SOUTHDOWN COTTAGE is located in the grounds of historic Southdown in Burradoo - an original Southern Highlands property dating back to 1857.
The Cottage, adjacent to the majestic original homestead, was built in 1864 as a caretaker's residence for the then large property.
In the middle of last century it was used as a bunkhouse for the children of city gentry visiting the famous Southdown Riding School which operated on the property for some 40 years, as well as a guest house for the homestead.
In more recent years the cottage accommodation has been extended and refurbished as a fully self-contained English Story Book style cottage.
The unique interior has been professionally decorated in country cottage style and offers a very special ambience for up to 4 guests.
Upstairs there is a queen bedroom with ensuite and Juliet balcony overlooking the rose and cottage gardens.
Downstairs is a double single bed bunk room with ensuite, fully equipped kitchenette and living area.
The cottage sitting and dining rooms, with wood fireplace (in winter), overlook the bay tree garden and long pond. There is also reverse-cycle airconditioning for all round year comfort.
TV (inc. Austar). DVD and CD player are supplied, as is a complimentary basket of breakfast provisions for several days.
Relax in the parklike 6 acres of gardens, where the seasons offer lavish displays of colour and where there are plenty of nooks and crannies where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the breathtaking views.
Alternatively you could use the croquet court, play boules or badminton, or just curl up with a book in the sitting room.
Southdown Cottage is suitable for up to four people and is ideal family accommodation.
